Joseph R. Harr – June 27, 2023

Joseph R. Harr, 43, of Latrobe, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in Scottdale.

Joe was born on December 8, 1979 in Latrobe to Denise (Dollar) Harr and Robert L. Harr of Baggaley.

He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and served in the Army for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Joe loved music and was most likely always found at a concert in downtown Pittsburgh. He was passionate about art, mythology, and his children.

In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his two daughters, Ariana and Amara Harr; his sister, Marie Harr; and his niece, Makayla Harr.

Kathy Douglass – Shively : Aug 5, 2020

Kathy A. Douglass Shively, 40, of Latrobe, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born May 20, 1980, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of David R. and Kimberly A. (Brazen) Douglass of Latrobe. Kathy was employed as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in Altoona. Its been said that the most beautiful things in life cant ever be touched – they need to be felt with the heart. For those who knew Kathy, she felt so strongly with her heart. She deeply loved her kids, family and her fur baby (Daisy). She was passionate about her work as an ASL interpreter and she adored her community of deaf friends. She shared her beauty so freely with others – her gift was that she loved easily (sometimes too easy) and with her whole heart. Her faith and passions ran deep. Despite the devastation of the loss to her family and friends – she leaves us with the memories of her beautiful life and were all so proud of her choice to gift a beautiful life to others through the CORE Program (https://www.core.org). In addition to her parents, she is survived by two children, Abby Douglass (Tyler Larkin) and Connor Wodoslawsky; her brother, Craig D. Douglass (Bruce Yoch), her twin sister, Kristy L. Ridilla (Kevin), her niece, Lily Ridilla; and her two nephews, Ben and Jack Ridilla. Services and interment will be private. Jason Markiewicz – October 2, 2017

Jason A. Markiewicz, 37, of Latrobe, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at his residence. Born Dec. 11, 1979, in Long Beach, Calif., he was a son of Vickie M. (Smith) Markiewicz, of Latrobe, and the late Richard A. Markiewicz. Jason was a sergeant with the Army, having served in Iraq. In addition to his mother, Jason is survived by a brother, Todd A. Markiewicz and his wife Megan, of Springfield, Pa.; a sister, Jennifer R. Piper and her husband Jerrod, of Greensburg; and his nephews and nieces, Urijah Piper, Elijah Piper, Rose Markiewicz and Evelyn Markiewicz.
Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Thursday at The Church of God, Youngstown. Interment is private. Arrangements are being handled by JOHN J. Doug Moff – January 18, 2014

Douglas J. Moff, 34, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born Dec. 25, 1979, in Latrobe, a son of Victor “Vic” Moff and Donna Campbell, both of Latrobe. Douglas was a 1998 graduate of Greater Latrobe Senior High School and earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Westmoreland County Community College. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed going to hockey and baseball games and wrestling matches, and he excelled in fantasy football leagues. He was a fan of the Dave Matthews Band, an avid comic book collector and an animal lover who enjoyed time with his best friend, Mojo. Douglas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles Moff Sr. and Mary Moff; and his maternal grandfathers, Alfred Campbell, Willis Lloyd and Peter Tomich. Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancy “Nanny” Tomich, of Latrobe; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends will be received from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Wise officiating. Interment will be private. Jason Duncan – April 5, 2013

Jason L. Duncan, 33, of Latrobe, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 in Norfolk, Virginia. Jason was born on June 1, 1979 in Richmond, Virginia, a son of George M. and Mikell L. (Zabolotny) Duncan of Hanna City, IL. He married Brandi Helfferich on April 14, 2002 in Bettendorf, Iowa. Jason graduated from Latrobe High School, and had his own DJ business. He recently took a job with Republic Airlines as a flight attendant, his dream job. He lived to travel. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and active member of Charter Oak Church. Time with his family was his joy. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Brandi, his son Zachary, his daughter Stacey, his brother Justin, his grandmother Rosanne “Nana”, and his father and mother-in-law, Rex and Louise Helfferich. He was preceded in death by is his grandfather Val Zabolotny, his grandmother Norberta Girtz, and his grandfather George Duncan Sr. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday in the Charter Oak Church, 449 Frye Farm Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601 with his pastor, the Rev. Matt Carlson – January 20, 2010

Matthew J. Carlson, 30, of Fredericksburg, Va., formerly of Latrobe, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond. He was born September 28, 1979, in Latrobe, the son of John and Christine (Kraynak) Carlson, of Latrobe. Matthew was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. He was employed at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford, Va., as a U.S. and Virginia history teacher. A Boy Scout, he achieved his Eagle Scout in Latrobe and was active in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and North Carolina. He was an organ donor through Life Net in Virginia. He was a graduate of Greater Latrobe School District, class of 1998, and Seton Hill University, class of 2002. Besides his parents, Matthew is survived by his wife, Heather A. (Saffer) Carlson, of Fredericksburg, Va.; a son, Evan Matthew Carlson, and daughter, Chloe Mae Carlson, both of Fredericksburg, Va.; and a sister, Marisa Carlson, of Greensburg. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Bonnie Saffer, of Latrobe. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Additional viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Jason Humbert – June 25, 2004

Jason C. Humbert, 24, of Latrobe, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at his residence. Born Sept. 29, 1979, in Latrobe, he was the son of James C. Humbert III and his wife, Barb, of West Virginia, and Janet M. (Miller) Batsa and her husband, Bill, of Tucson, Ariz. He was employed by Miller’s Nursery, Latrobe RD4, and was a graduate of Greater Latrobe High School, Class of 1998. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Brianna Humbert, of Latrobe; maternal grandparents, George and Regina Miller, of Latrobe; paternal grandparents, James and Gertrude Humbert, of Greensboro, Pa.; and a niece, Scylla Humbert, of Latrobe.  There will be no public visitations. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday at 11 a.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, with the Rev. Dr. David P. von Schlicten officiating. Dave Downs – May 3, 2001

David W. Downs, 21, of Latrobe, died Thursday, May 3, 2001,  due to injuries from an automobile accident. Born March 30, 1980, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Patricia Downs Crusan and stepson of the late Patrick A. Crusan. He was formerly employed as a laborer by Classic Industries of Latrobe. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. In addition to his mother and stepfather, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick A. Crusan II, in 1994. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, with whom he made his home, Donald and Erma Downs of Latrobe; two uncles, Donald J. Downs and Joseph J. Downs and his wife, Maria, all of Latrobe; two aunts, Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Shafron of Derry and Mrs. Kenneth (Michelle) McManamy of Latrobe; and several cousins. Friends will be received at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe. Tim Glass – September 6, 1999

Timothy J. Glass, 19, of Youngstown, Pa., died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born April 22, 1980, in Latrobe, a son of Christopher and Rebecca M. Black Glass. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Youngstown, New Derry Sportsmen’s Club, and a graduate of Latrobe High School class of 1998. He was employed by Dingbat’s. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert B. Black; and two uncles, Timothy S. Glass and Robert B. Black Jr. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Christine R. Glass of Youngstown; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Black of Latrobe; paternal grandparents, Joseph M. and Margaret Glass of New Derry; aunts and uncles, Elaine Serembo and husband, Richard, of Jeannette, Dianne DeMine and husband, Donald, of Latrobe, Debora Novosat and husband, George, of New Derry, Richard and Yvette Glass of Latrobe; cousins, Courtney Novosat, Richard and Robert Serembo, Rhonda Lucas, and Constance DeMine; a great-niece, Josalynn Lucas; and a significant number of close friends. Friends will be received at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME  INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church with the Rev. Ralph Tajak, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
